Wrapped Links

Wrapped Links
Now that you know how to make wrapped loops,
you can make a wrapped link.

Four Parts to making a Wrapped Link:
Make the Tail
Make the Loop
Make the Wrap
Cut and Finish
Making the Tail
Make a wrapped loop, and add a bead or beads
onto the long wire. Cut a tail 2” longer than the
beads you are going to string onto the wire.

Personally, I make a tail that is 2 fingers wide. I don’t
have to measure; it’s consistent and easy, and it’s long
enough to wrap and hold on to.

Make a 90º bend in the tail. Leave just enough space
between the bead and the bend to make the same
number of wraps you made on the first side. To test
it, put your round-nose pliers in the bend. If you have
enough room between the bead and the bend to hit
the 3/8” mark on your pliers, you have enough space
to wrap.
Making The Loop
With your round-nose pliers, grab the tail of the wire at the bend. To get loops that are the same size, put the mark on your pliers in the bend. With your fingers, flip the tail up and away from you. Then wrap it towards you, over the pliers, until the tail lies next to the beaded wire.
Linking Tip: If you are linking things together, now is the time to slide it into the loop.

Now, loosen your grip on the pliers and rotate the round-nose pliers 90º down.
Re-grip the wire in the bottom of the loop. With your fingers, push or pull the tail down behind the long wire, until it is flat against your round-nose tips. Your wire should cross itself at a 90º angle.

Linking Tip:
If you have a link in place, hold the loop with your flat nose pliers.

Making the Wrap
Rotate the pliers to the top of the loop.
Wrap the tail into the space between the bead and the loop.
If you measured correctly, you will have the same number of wraps on both sides of the bead/s.

Cut and finish the wrap.

Congrats, you did it! Judy
