Jewelry Design Tools - Peyote Stitch Sampler and Lariat Necklace for Measuring

Jewelry Design Tools

These are some of the tools I use when I am designing jewelry for clients.
I made a sampler of exactly what one square inch of beads looks like, from
two beads wide to twenty beads wide.

I made a lariat style necklace with a big lobster claw clasp, so that the client can put it on and clip it at the
"right" length.

Kim Modeling the Wheelchair Cape I Made for Her

My good friend Kim, modeling the winter cape that I made for her. It is denim on the outside, and polar fleece inside, with a detachable hood.
The front is long enough to cover her feet, but the back is just long enough so that she doesn’t sit on it. That way she can throw it on without having wrinkles under her legs.
The width of the cape goes from one wrist to the other with her arms stretched out full length. The sides are open for 9” down from the shoulder fold, then sewn shut to the waist so she has lots of room to move without the breeze blowing in.
Because the cape is wide, she can tuck the edges around her legs if she gets cold. The corners of the cape are rounded, which helps to keep them out of her wheels. She opted not to have me make a “foot pocket”, but she does have hidden pockets in the side seams of the cape.
She raved about her cape so much that I got several more orders from her friends who live in the same building she does. I don’t make it with a detachable hood anymore though. Either you want a hood or not! It’s just too time consuming to make a seperate hood.

Prayer from Hubbin! Oct 25

May the coffee wake up your brain cells.

Part of the gentle ribbing he gave me when he brought me coffee -because I thought it was Tuesday, not Wednesday.
