Custom Jewelry Designing Tool

This is a lariat with a large lobster claw clasp. When I am designing a custom jewelry piece for a client, I have them try on my lariat so they can clip it at exactly the right place for them.

It works for earrings, necklaces, and bracelets!

Earrings?!? Yep! Look closely at the lobster clasp - it is permanently attached to the long chain, but it has a detachable dangle clipped onto it that I can remove and hold up next to the customer’s ear to simulate an earring dangling down! This gives them a good visual reference so they can choose “long” or “short”.

Bracelet?!? Yep! They just wrap the lariat around their wrist and clip it where it makes sense to them. Then, because I like wide and dangly bracelets I say ” Hey, look at this, when I wrap it a few times I get agreat wide bracelet. Do YOU like that?”

Necklace?!? Yep! I can simulate a long necklace with no clasp, a short choker, single strand or double strand necklace, a waterfall necklace, a Y-shaped necklace, a lariat, a necklace with a clasp, and ….

How many different options can you think of?

  1. That's an amazingly clever idea for sizing and designing jewelry!
